I've been running (now fast-walking) since 1972. These are a well-priced and designed for those with pronation issues. If one has major pronation (foot rolling inward - sometimes due to collapsing arches), it would be helpful to have a custom-fit orthotic to help more. The vast majority of knee issues (non-accidental and non-congenital) are due to weight and/or incorrect foot roll. If you like to wear Asics and like wearing the less expensive Asics Contend models, these fit pretty much the same. These are not designed for a cushiony effect but are a stable and relatively firm shoe in the forefoot. Of course, one can always use a different insole as the ones in these are removable. I personally wear a 3/4 orthotic underneath the insole provided. I have an average width foot and the toe box is plenty large. If needing an Xtra Wide Shoe, New Balance has a good variety and Nike has some as well.I have been running again over the past year after a decade off, and as I am putting on more and more miles I decided I needed to upgrade to a stability running shoe. I had been working out and running in cheaper ASICS for a few years because they all come in 4E and fit my wider foot really well. But I decided I needed something a little more stable. For the price you pay for the GT-1000 for the support and fit it provides is excellent. This comes in 4E as well, so it's a great shoe for an overpronator with wider feet. I just bought a second pair. Probably the best value you will find with a decent stability shoe. Some reviews say the toe box is tight, and the extra wide version is a tiny bit tighter than most ASICS, but it makes for a more secure fit.I don't think someone who has no overpronation would probably like this shoe though. The post on the inside of the shoe is pretty rigid. You have to be looking for a stability running shoe to appreciate this one.For the last 15 years, I have been running with a mix of shoes which has included Asics. I am happy to report, their sizing has been totally stable in this time. (New Balance, take note.) That said, they are not actually correctly sized...they are stable in their sizing. I have been professionally measured several times...I am an 11 EE. In Asics, I have always worn a 12 4E.I have about ten 1-hour runs on these new shoes; I weigh about 220 ibs. The shoes, so far, are as expected...100% fine. I do not much care for the way they look, but, they are running shoes, and that is no big deal for me.I have the all-gray ones, and they remind me of Danny Kaye's gray dance shoes in White Christmas. I have yet to spot Betty or Judy Haynes on any of my runs. What's up with that?Todo me agradoI bought these because my last pair, the last gen, was getting a bit warn out. For the price it is fantastic and looks great (black with green). The shoe is thicker than the last gen which is a plus for how cold it has been getting, but still have breathable holes so your feet don't get stuffy. The gel feature on the shoe is a bit lack luster to be honest. It is slightly noticeable but could have a bit more cushion on my own personal preference. With how pricey shoes can be, these 60 dollar pair still gives you a good running and comfort. Only reason for a 4 star is because they are not the perfect shoe with me wanting to add more gel in it, but still very well made for the price. They also look really great, already have a few people ask me where I got them from.At first glance and feel in my hand, I was skeptical at best and totally not impressed with the material. The sole material is harder on the heel and normal soft on mid and toe area. The weight was light as expected but almost fake, too light. Well. I thought the only way to test the shoe is use them during a JV basketball game two man refereeing. I was faster and surprise the shoe held up because I am a mover on the court. The best part was my ankle and knees felt great afterward for the first time all season. Now, for those who are looking for a shiny patent leather look, this is not for you. This shoe is functional, light weight, and speed tested under quick stop and go on indoor floors. The last 15 games of the season will either solidify the review or bring me back to adjust any issues? After years of buying low-end running sneakers and expensive gel inserts to offset the lack of cushioning, I upgraded to the Gel Kayano about 3 1/2 years ago. I have heavy to severe pronation, so the Kayanos were a game-changer. I’ve owned several pairs, and they wee all great. The main issue(s) was that they were really expensive, and they were no more durable than the $45-50 ASICS offering. After hours of research, I decided to try the well-reviewed Gel-1000 7s. Heck, they priced out at about half the cost of the Kayanos, and they are in the stability shoe class. First run out of the box, I detected little discernible difference to the Kayano. They were stable and comfortable, and I was pleased to experience my second “game changer” from ASICS. My feet/toes are standard width, so I did not experience the common complaint of a narrow toe box. If you have an “average foot” that isn’t too wide or too narrow, the Gel-1000 7 is the perfect combination of price and performance.Good and suitableAsics is my favourite brand for running shoe and I have owned over 20 pairs over the years. This is the first product I have had problems with. After only about 3-4 months of wear, the inside of the heels have rubbed off revealing sharp material inside that's digging into my heels which is painful and giving me blisters. I'm very dissatisfied with this particular product, not sure if it's a defective shoe or if this particular model is the issue. I don't recommend this product to anyone.I have always been an ASICS fan; however, something has changed in their design & they are ripping my Achilles/heel to pieces. Please change back the inner heel to your old design. This has now put me off ASCIS as the Men's GEL-Quantum 180 also did the same. Saludos
