I echo the comments of the other review below, these trainers are just smaller than expected. I too have worn Asics for years (completing full and half marathons in them, as well as running about 4 times a week) and have always been more than happy with them. I always buy the same size, UK 9.5s, as I usually know these fit perfectly. But it's not the case with these. My last couple of pairs have been Gel Phoenix 7s, which I can't find anymore, so went for Gel Phoenix 9s, thinking they would at equally as good. But, it's like Asics have gone backwards in their development. There is no room at end for the toes, plus they have taken away the additional lace eye-hole, which I find essential to ensure that the trainers are snug in my feet and to prevent blisters on my heels.I am really disappointed with these trainers.I recently found out I've got "Flexible Flat Feet," which was causing me some pain in my arches when running. I tried the prescribed insoles first, which did work, but didn't leave much room in shoes. Did a bit of research and came across these. I've never had a bit of arch-pain when using these. I'm currently on my 2nd pair.Tip; Don't also use them as your walking around shoe. Save them primarily for runs. I used my first pair as my generic trainer and wore them out too fast, which caused a little pain in the muscle in front of the tibia during a run. No problem since replacing. I must've used all of the road hours during dog walks.Like the style and I’ve had Asics before, but for someone who is a size 9, I could barely get a 9:5 on, I would recommend going a size above. Probably would have exchanged for a 10 but the price increased by nearly £14 for half a size ?. How does that work?Very nice shoe, once I got the right size. I have quite wide feet and have had trouble with narrow shoes in the past. I used to have the Phoenix 7 in size 8 (UK), which was fine once I let the laces right out.I initially tried a size 8.5 with these, but we still way too tight, so went up to a 9.5 and they seem to fit perfectly once loosened off.The shoe itself is very comfortable and light. I don't feel the need for a softer insole as I did with previous shoes.Altogether, very good, once you get the right size. The heel was quite stiff around the ankle at first but after a couple of uses it feels fine and gives a bit more support than usual. The fit is great and in line with other ASICS trainers I’ve had. A few months in and the look like new so they are hard wearing. Very happy with them.
